Favorite things
It is quaint, reliable, constantly at the ready, and it beats having to put one down and pick one up. This is just one of those favorite things, and due to my slight obsessive compulsive behavior I cannot live without.
I speak of my BIC quad-color pen, as well as another twenty I have strewn away in arm compartment of my down jacket, front pockets of jeans balled up in the hamper (yeah, its always a surprise on laundry day), my messenger bag, backpack, inner pockets of my camera bag, in-between couch cushions and a slew of other nooks and crannies I may find my rouge pens.
I recently came across a post on Gizmodo that gave me inspiration to briefly speak on my favorite plum. I was surprised to find that there were a number of fellow readers willing to comment about the love of their favorite scribe. What is it about this particular tool of the written word that has the power to subconsciously attach itself to us?
I am not attempting to state that a pen is a sentient being, capable of emotion, but we selectively choose those moments when we wouldn’t question it – like now. This post is proof of that through the input of backlit, chiclet style keys that I speak of an inanimate object as if it would cringe at the mention of replacing it.
What I will also say is that besides us as humans that are capable of exercising our vocal cords to express ourselves, it has been our ability to write/draw that comes at a solid second to enhance as well as record those expressions.
To getting our random thoughts, opinions, likes (without the thumbs up icon), arguments, desires, and the like it has been that quill, rock, chalk, a can of KRYON, pencil, and what is famously quoted as being mightier than the sword, the pen that has accomplished many great works.
Speaking of expression, do you have anything of similar interest to share? Chime in below and say hello!

I found this very interesting, being a nurse and having the constant need to have a reliable, non-bleeding pen I can relate. You might be interested to know in this forum that having a good pen in the Nurse’s station is like having a Thumb lol…u can’t function without it. Oh and don’t come to work and ask to borrow one, the dirty, untrusting looks you get with cause you to seek the closes sanitizer station. So yes I understand the choice affection for the PEN. K. Way
