All Good Things Must Grow
I was recently contacted by an old acquaintance from my travels in Australia and in particular the streets of Melbourne, VIC where I was introduced to Isabelle (Isy) Laderman and her in.cube8r gallery in 2010.
Isy has grown this business from the ground up with a unique business model that can be summed up nicely from her landing page’s description:
each in.cube8r® is home to more than 90 of Australia’s top crafters. in.cube8r takes NO commission on sales! each gallery is divided up into glass cubicles, shelves, racks and partitions which artists can lease for a small cost. in.cube8r is the first and ORIGINAL model of this concept.
It is a nesting ground for those who appreciate the makings of handmade goods to include, but not limited to jewelery, natural soaps, clothing, and sewn dolls.
I recall fondly of my initial experience at in.cube8r’s Fitzroy location that upon passing the shop’s threshold you’re immediately embraced with the warm fuzzies often felt when entering many of the quaint establishments in the Fitzroy district. The bright hues of pinkish red throughout the shop, accented by glass shelves incubating interesting and unique crafts from individuals throughout the city of Melbourne is unlike anything I’ve witnessed from the many visits of op/thrift shops.

The work not only done by Isy to build up in.cube8r, but the crafters and artists that seek to display their works within this establishment is a labor of love that you can not only see, but feel when you’re in the presence of great crafts surrounding you.
At the time I met Isy she was in the progress of establishing her franchise and opening up a shop in Sydney, Australia. This was a major milestone for her and the brand. The growth potential was grouped with nervousness and excitement that was nothing less descriptive of positivity shrouded with good vibes.
Like all good businesses Isy’s in.cube8r must now expand and grow with a heavy consideration for e-commerce which Isy is currently seeking a new owner of the brand to take in.cube8r to the next level, hence my inspiration for this post to spread the word.
For anyone who shares the same interest and love for handmade crafts along with supporting local artisans, in.cube8r may just be the unique fit to begin or further your entrepreneurial pursuits.
If this strikes your fancy please feel free to reach out to me via my about.me page or contact Isy direct along with the pdf brochure to give you an idea .
Much success to you Isy, in.cube8r, and to all the artisans who have made this brand what it is today.
